Police are investigating after primary school children feared they were followed down a path by a man.
The incident is said to have happened at Whittle-le-Woods Primary School.
The school has reported it to police.
A spokesperson for Chorley Police said: “Yes, there has been a report that has come from the school. We are treating it as suspicious circumstances at this stage.
“It was thought that a man was seen in the area acting menacingly.
“Nothing was said, nothing was done and the children haven’t been approached.
“We’ve got officers in the area, we’re checking CCTV and we will speak to the pupils in due course.
“At this moment in time it doesn’t appear anything untoward.
“It’s just pupils behaving vigilantly.”
A message went out through “parent mail” - an online communication system for parents.
It said: “Reported to police this morning - two of our children have been followed whilst walking down path between Chorley Old Rd & Preston Rd pupils avoid path.”
The school said it had reported the incident to police but declined to comment further.
