Moped rider fighting for life after collision

A moped rider has been left seriously injured following a collision.

The incident occurred at around 8.30pm on Thursday on Preston Road, Whittle-le-Woods. A white van and a green moped collided close to the Doorway to Value shop.

The moped rider, a 50-year-old man from Bamber Bridge, came off his bike, suffering fractured ribs, a broken arm, shoulder and collarbone and a collapsed lung. He was taken to Royal Preston Hospital, where he was said to be in a critical condition.

The road was closed for around five hours while specialist officers attended the scene. Witness should call police on 101.
