Police are looking to trace a motorcyclist following a collision on a Chorley moorland road.

Two motorcycles collided on Rivington Road, Belmont, on the top of Rivington Moor, near to Sheephouse Lane, at around 6.15pm on Sunday.

It is thought that the two motorcycles passed each other travelling in opposite directions when they collided.

Both vehicles stayed upright and no one was seriously hurt.

One of the motorcyclists sustained an injury to his right foot, possibly caused by the foot peg of the other motorcycle, which continued on its journey towards Rivington.

PC Dean Hodgeson, from the East Division Road Policing Unit, said: “I am looking to speak to the driver of the motorcycle that carried on towards Rivington after the incident.

“I am also keen to speak to the driver of a silver Volkswagen vehicle, possibly a Touareg, who may have witnessed in incident.

“If this is you or you have any information, please get in contact with us.”

The motorcycle is described as a cruiser type vehicle with light coloured bodywork, and was being ridden by a rider and pillion passenger.

Both were in dark clothing and wearing full face helmets.
