MP will discuss post office closure plans with bosses
Lindsay Hoyle will meet Post Office executives tomorrow to outline his objections to plans to close Chorley Crown Post Office, on Cleveland Street, and replace it with counters at WHSmith.
His concerns include the lack of car parking outside WHSmith, the amount of space available in the shop and whether the same products and services will be available.

Mr Hoyle said: “Given the concerns I have about the proposals over our Crown Post Office I have asked to meet with them to discuss this in more detail. At present I do not see how merging the Crown Post Office with WHSmith can be an improvement for customers and therefore I am opposed to the plans.
“I shall be using my meeting on Tuesday to discuss this and seek assurances over services and jobs.”
The Post Office did not respond to a request for a comment, but Roger Gale, general manager of the Post Office Crown Network, has previously said: “We are committed to keeping our services on the high street which we know is hugely important to people. This proposal means we can continue to do that, into the future.
