Chorley Street Market cancelled due to 'high winds'

Chorley Council has confirmed that they Street Market is cancelled today (Tuesday 11) due to high winds in the area.

The Covered Market and all other town centre businesses will be open as usual.

A spokesperson for Chorley Council said: "Due to the forecast high winds, the Street Market is cancelled tomorrow (Tuesday), however the Covered Market and all other town centre businesses will be open as usual."

Chorley is famous for its markets, which date back to 1498.

The Street Market sees stalls lining Fazakerley ​​Street, Chapel Street, New Market Street, Cleveland Street and the bottom half of High Street every Tuesday.

Shoppers can find more than 150 stalls to choose from on busy days.
