Kate Garraway joins neighbours in Clap for Carers as husband Derek remains critically ill with COVID-19

Kate Garraway surprised fans with a video of her and her two children, Darcey and Billy, as they joined neighbours for Clap the Carers outside her London home last night (April 30).
In the video, the presenter can be seen smiling at the camera and banging a saucepan on her driveway, as her street applauded the efforts of NHS workers in the weekly thanksgiving.

Hide AdSharing the uplifting video on Instagram, Kate updated her fans on her husband Derek's battle with COVID-19.
"So much to be grateful for tonight," said Kate.
"Derek is still with us but what a battle it is.
"So grateful too for our amazing #nhs doing so much for Derek everyday."
Kate has been joining her neighbours every week for Clap for Carers, as her husband Derek Draper remains critically ill in hospital.
She added: "Wonderful to see all the support for them & our key workers every Thursday. We can’t thank them enough can we?

"Thank you so much for your messages - they mean so much to me. . Love and so much thanks from me and the whole family."
Last week, Kate revealed that her husband had been put into an induced coma after his condition had deteriorated.
She said: "He is still critically ill in intensive care, but where there is life there is hope, adding, "thank you #nhs from the bottom of my heart."
The 52-year-old, from Chorley, attended Southlands High School, where he graduated in 1984, before studying at Runshaw College in Leyland.
