Photographer creates new calendar of Leyland

As part of a lockdown project, the calendar features 12 glorious images taken to showcase a unique light on the town where Joseph lives with his wife and two sons.

"I produced a calendar last year from mainly around the North West but wanted to focus on where we live for 2021. I wanted to show the iconic side of Leyland as well as an artistic side. So as well as the Foundryman and the Centurion Tank, I have taken shots within Worden Park which maybe aren't quite as obvious as to where they are," said Joseph.

"I had maybe 15 or 16 final images to choose from and it was hard to whittle them down for the calendar. Each one was taken specifically for the month and I think evokes that particular month quite well. I'm pleased to showcase Leyland's history and lovely views.

"Putting the calendar together was a bit of a lockdown project as well as setting up a new photography website and podcast."

For self-employed and freelance workers, the reality of the pandemic hit hard and virtually put a stop to all opportunities to work.

In Joseph's case, he confessed that he lost 80 percent of his clients overnight when the lockdown was introduced but says that it provided him with the time to delve into new artistic ventures.

He said: "Photography is one arm of my business and more of a hobby-come-business really. Being self employed I lost 80 percent of my clients overnight, so I used this as an opportunity to work on the direction I want my business to go and set up new blogs, try out the podcast which I has been wanting to do for a while and reevaluate things.

"I met a whole bunch of new people through running the podcast and have had some great feedback."
