Earlier this year Nigel set up his own Shed Sessions YouTube channel called ‘Nigel Haworth Food with Roots’.

The channel also highlights the expertise and presentational skills he has acquired during a top flight career that has seen him train at Accrington and Rossendale College, work in London and Switzerland, teach at his old college and then take the helm at Northcote.

He arrived at the Langho restaurant near Whalley in 1984 as a 24 year old and stepped down as joint managing director in 2017, remaining as a culinary ambassador until last month.

He gained a Michelin star which he held from 1996 until he left in 2017, explaining: “I needed to have a change and I needed to do it before I was too old”.

The seasonal offerings include Lockdown Turkey, Beef Wellington, Christmas Sausage Rolls, Smoked Salmon with Morecambe Bay Shrimps plus desserts.

Future plans include possibly opening his own restaurant. But during lockdown Nigel, who also works as a consultant, has not had to go far for his “Shed Sessions”.

His development kitchen is in a converted summerhouse in his back garden in Ribchester.
