Peter’s memorial trophy will be contested annually

A memorial shoot is be held each year following its inaugural launch this summer.

It was organised in memory of Peter Whittle, 53, from Chorley, who died suddenly on May 6, only a day following a Bank Holiday shoot with 

Peter was an enthusiastic shooter and fisherman.

The memorial shoot was held at Fours Wood Clay Shooting Ground, Croston, on August Bank Holiday

“Everyone was so shocked at his sudden death, we decided to hold a memorial shoot in his memory” said Jeff Almond, owner of the shoot.

Jeff’s grandson Byron Rimmer organised the shoot, and had a shield made inscribed ‘Peter Whittle Memorial Shoot’.

Byron arranged for a raffle and an auction following the event, which raised £400 towards Derian House Children’s Hospice, Astley Village.

Julie Whittle, Peter’s wife, and her daughter Louise attended the shoot, and Byron presented her with the cheque later at the Black Horse Hotel, Croston.

“We will hold this memorial shoot every year, in memory of Peter,” said Byron.

The first winner of the 
trophy was Darren Newton.
