“I’ll have a pornstar martini please” . . . when a new micro pub opens in a Chorley village later this month, no only will it be serving up some delicious real ales – but an interesting selection of cocktails, too.
The Cockt’ale is being launched in Eccleston by Ruth Hull, 59, and her husband Richard, 61, who currently run an award-winning pub in Wigan.
“The way forward is the local micro pub, because you’ve got a quarter of the rent compared to renting a pub off a brewery,” said Ruth.
“We’ll be serving some really nice real ales and really nice cocktails.
“That’s all we’ll be doing, no lagers, except bottled lagers, but none on draught. It’s a place for the more mature customer.”
Cocktail drinker Ruth gave an insight into the cocktail menu. For example, there will be pornstar martini, a mix of vanilla vodka, Passoa passion fruit liqueur, caramel syrup, finished off with fresh passion fruit or pineapple. And a French martini, vanilla vodka, Chambord raspberry liqueur, topped up with fresh pineapple juice.
The pub is at the former Grocers on the Green, on The Green. The now closed shop was launched by former Preston North End legend, Eccleston-born Paul McKenna, two years ago.
Ruth said; “It will be a bar with seating area and tall tables down the middle where people can stand and have a drink.”
She said she came across the premises after looking to open a micro pub in the area.
Currently Ruth and her husband, son and sister-in-law run the Victoria in Aspull, which they will keep on. The pub won the area’s CAMRA pub of the season for summer 2013 and autumn 2014.
