Croston, a beautiful village in Lancashire, is situated next to the River Yarrow.

The village boasts a rich history dating back to the seventh century when, as there was no church, a cross was erected by St Aidan for a place of worship giving the village its unique name.

There now are three picturesque churches in Croston all offering an active community service with bell ringing and other groups to choose from.

The village has gained awards for ‘Best Kept Large Village in Lancashire 2011’ and a silver medal in the large village category of ‘North West in Bloom 2011’.

The incredible aesthetics of Croston are maintained by the parish council. Anne Peet, chairman, spoke of how Croston provides an excellent sense of village life for its residents.

Croston has an abundance of public amenities. There are seven public houses in the village each steeped with history and there are excellent restaurants to choose from.

Croston hosts a wide variety of shops, from florists to supermarkets and contains two doctors surgeries with a pharmacy a short walk away.

Additionally, the village has both primary and secondary education catered for with Bishop Rawstorne Church of England Academy offering high school education and Trinity and St Michaels Church of England Methodist Primary School catering for the youngsters.
