Furry creatures took centre stage at a family pet show in Chorley.

Rats, hamsters, guinea pigs and rabbits were entered into the fun competition, held on Sunday at Chorley Town Hall.

Named Shells, Scales And Furry Tails, it was the first pet show organised by Chorley Council, in conjunction with Pinewood Veterinary Practice.

Pet lovers could put questions to the experts in an “ask the vet” session and meet more exotic animals, including snakes, turtles and bearded dragons.

Prizes were presented by the Mayor and Mayoress of Chorley, Coun Roy Lees and his wife Margaret, with rosettes given for the first four places.

Money raised at the show will be donated to Paws For Kids, a charity offering a pet fostering service for women and children experiencing domestic violence and abuse.
