Callous thieves have snatched a hospital ward’s television.

The dementia patients in the Rookwood Ward at Chorley Hospital were looking forward to watching the Rugby World Cup.

But their fun has now been spoiled as raiders stole the ward’s 37-inch television.

The incident happened between 8.30 and 8.45pm on Wednesday.

Offenders made their way onto the ward and removed the £400 television off the wall before fleeing the premises.

Lancashire Police is investigating the incident and CCTV from the hospital is being sought.

A spokesman from the Rookwood Ward said: “The television was bought as part of a revamp to the ward. It was bought for the football World Cup and we decorated the room with banners and flags.

“We were about to do the same for the Rugby World Cup but now we can’t.”

Anyone with information should call the police on 101.
