Network Rail has confirmed that a bridge closed as part of work to electrify the railway will reopen next week.
Motorists in Adlington faced delays when several railway bridges in the surrounding area were shut.
The problems were exacerbated when Grimeford Lane, in nearby Blackrod, was closed on Monday, March 2.
Earlier this week, Network Rail announced the road would be reopened and the work postponed until later in the year.
A spokesman has now confirmed the road will be opened on Wednesday evening.
Rawlinson Lane and Chorley Road, in Heath Charnock, Station Road in Blackrod; and Stump Lane in Chorley will all remain closed for several months.
To electrify the line, the bridges are being rebuilt to increase the clearance underneath to accommodate overhead lines to power the trains.
