Rallying round for needy youngsters

Cadley FC boys and girls held a sponsored pyjama training night in aid of the charity, as well as the Jordan Grant foundation.

The sponsored event involved all teams and managers on the 3G at Corpus Christi Catholic High School on St Vincent’s Road.

And Staff from DFS in Preston used their pedal power to complete a gruelling cycling challenge, as part of the furniture retailer’s endeavour to raise £1m for the cause this year.

Paul Bleasdale and James Parkinson joined Pudsey to complete the fifth leg of the DFS Pedal for Pudsey challenge.

It saw them cycle a specially constructed rickshaw, mounted with a two-seater sofa, from their store in Preston to the Harris Library and Museum before setting off on the rest of the leg.

Stopping off at more than 40 towns and cities across the UK, the Pedal for Pudsey challenge was set to cover more than 400 miles and involve more than 40 DFS employees.

Also, Booths supermarket in Penwortham celebrated its 20th anniversary by hosting a fundraising event in store.

Staff cycled ‘Around the Booths Stores’ on a static exercise bike from 8am to 9pm on Friday in an attempt to raise in excess of £1,000.

Staff at Penwortham Booths wore fancy dress for the occasion, and shoppers were joined by Pudsey Bear who was spreading the party spirit in store.

Preston-based Little Rascals children’s nursery which raised more than £400 for Children in Need.

Children up to the age of five took part in a variety of sponsored activities including singing and dancing every hour, a wacky hair day and a Pudsey treasure hunt.

Money was also raised through children and staff wearing their pyjamas for the day, a cake and biscuit sale and children having their photograph taken with Pudsey.

At Busy Bees Nursery in Lostock Hall, near Preston, children and staff enjoyed a host of Pudsey fun.

Everyone attended nursery dressed in their pyjamas and the children brought along their favourite teddy bears.

There was also a Pudsey bear hunt, and the chance to make Pudsey hats and paint Pudsey pictures.

International sportswear company Kukri raised £1,020 for Children in Need by allowing staff to wear onesies to work.

Staff at the Kukri HQ in Preston donated £2 each to wear their onesie or pyjamas for the day. The team also held a Children in Need bake sale and a staff kit sale.
