Plans to build a rehabilitation centre in Heapey for ex-servicemen and others who have lost limbs have been blocked.
Although members at Chorley Council warmed to the idea of having a rehab centre for veterans, they felt they could not give it the go ahead because of the narrow roads leading to the site in Brinscall Mill Road.
Speaking at a council meeting this week, Coun Aaron Beaver said that on a visit to the site the traffic had been a “nightmare”.
He added: “I could not believe the amount of traffic that could be on a small lane. It’s an excellent idea but not at this location.”
Speaking on behalf of the applicant Ann Nikolakis, agent John Welbank of Rural Futures, said: “We are obviously disappointed in the decision but we are reviewing the reasons.
“We clearly had support amongst the some of the councillors but we need to see if we can improve the scheme in order to meet their concerns.”
Mrs Nikolakis hopes to resubmit plans for the site before going down the appeal route.
