ROQ holds golf day for Macmillan Cancer Support

Three work colleagues putted their way through four round of golf to raise more than £1,000 for a cancer charity.

Andrew Crossley, James Eastham and Richard Simms, from ROQ, a Chorley-based software testing solutions provider, tackled 72 holes over courses at Leyland Golf Club and Haigh Hall, in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.ROQ offer a charity matching scheme which matches any funds raised when three or more ROQ colleagues have taken part in the fund-raising, helping the team to raise £1,08.Stephen Johnson, owner and director at ROQ, said: “We are all really proud of these three guys. We try to encourage our colleagues to get involved in as much charity and community work as possible and they don’t disappoint. I didn’t think they would manage to do it, but we were all really impressed by their efforts.”Andrew Crossley, participant and organiser of the event, added: “With great help from the ROQ charity matching scheme, we raised an amazing amount of money and hope that this will give the support to families affected by cancer that they so need. I would just like to thank all those who donated and supported us through the challenge, especially the two team members who were daft enough to do it with me. I’ll be looking to join the next great ROQ charity challenge.”Meanwhile, Chorley Golf Club members Danny Wright completed five rounds (90 holes) in one day in aid of the club’s Captain’s Charities.Rosemere Cancer Foundation, and Bolton Dementia Support.Money is still coming in, but funds are estimated to be more than £500.
