Swimming sensation Rosanna Ogden is preparing to swim six miles in six days to mark her sixth birthday.
Rosanna, from Adlington, is well known for taking on challenges in the water to raise money for various charities, after she was diagnosed with a rare heart condition and underwent open-heart surgery as a baby.
This time, she is supporting the When You Wish Upon a Star charity, which grants the wishes of children suffering from life-threatening illnesses.
And she will be joined by famous faces including open water swimmer and motivational speaker Adam Walker, the first British person to swim the ‘Oceans 7’; the toughest seven channel swims in the world.
Rosanna’s mum, Sanam, said: “It’s great that we’ve got someone from the global swimming scene who wants to support Rosanna.
“We’re trying to organise a special guest for each of the six days, which will take place in various pools.
“The final day will be at David Lloyd leisure centre in Chorley, and we’d really like people to come along and cheer her on as she completes her final mile.”
Rosanna’s ‘Super Sixtastic Half Term’ challenge will take place from February 14 in Nottingham.
Chorley mayor, Coun Marion Lowe, will be attending David Lloyd at 3pm on February 19.
Sanam is now appealing for local celebrities to get in touch to join Rosanna on the other days.
“It will be an exciting swimming adventure for Rosanna,” she added. “I would also really like to thank Caroline Heil, David Lloyd’s general manager, for helping Rosanna and supporting her with all her charity work.”
