Tributes have flooded in for an ‘amazing’ riding instructor who has died suddenly, aged 26.
Family and friends of Katie Wilcock, from Wood Lane, Heskin, are heartbroken after her shock death on
They have posted messages of condolence on a Facebook page for the Shevington stables, Deandane, where she had been a popular instructor.
Breaking the news on the site, the post read: “It is with extreme sadness that we must let you all know Katie, daughter of our dear friends Andrew and Ann Wilcock, died suddenly last night.
“Kate rode with us as a little girl and then became an instructor here.
“She will be greatly missed and our thoughts and prayers are with her mum and dad and family.”
Responding to the message, one poignant reply read: “No more ‘fast’ lessons with Katie.
“No more gentle encouragement when I think I can’t do it.
“No more whispered tips about technique that work miracles in seconds.
“No more kinship in her eyes, from one horsewoman to another, even though she was lightyears better than I’ll ever be.
“No more raucous laughter when I got it wrong.
“No more triumphant grin when I get it right.
“Words cannot express how much I will miss you Katie, my friend.
“Until next time. Until we meet again. Ride Pegasus through the sky for me.”
Katie had run Balloomers Balloons and Flowers, providing balloon decoration, table centrepieces, glassware hire, crystal bouquets and artificial wedding bouquets for weddings and other special occasions.
Her funeral is being organised by Livesey’s Funeral Directors.
