The Slimming World clubs that have pulled together to make the donations to Living Waters Storehouse Chorley and Churches Together in Leyland are Coppull British Legion, Chorley St Peters Club, Hollinshead St Church, Chorley Cricket Club, Euxton Cricket Club, Buckshaw Village Community Centres, Eaves Green Community Centre, Chorley St Georges Institute, Chorley Football Club, Leyland Methodist Church, St Marys High School, St James Church, Farington St Catherine’s Church, Leyland United Reformed Church, Leyland Pentecostal Church, Leyland and Farington Club and St Marys Priory Club, Leyland.
Team manager Deborah Morris, of Buckshaw Village, said: “I can’t believe just how many bags our members, their friends, families and colleagues have managed to collect.
“We see fantastic support for each other every week in groups and to see this support extended to our local communities has been amazing. When we collected the bags up and saw what a phenomenal amount there was altogether, and we realised what a difference we could make, we were all quite overwhelmed.
“It has been fantastic to see so many bags of food, household items, toiletries and Easter treats donated. We know school holidays put an extra strain on families and lots of children don’t get their hot school meal; we hope our collection will ease that strain a little this Easter for some local families. We have been blown away by the generosity and passion with this collection.”
