Spillage forces M61 closure between Chorley and Horwich
The southbound carriageway of the M61 between Chorley and Horwich is currently fully closed due to a spillage.
Highways England have alerted motorists to the closure, which is from junction 8 Chorley to junction 6 Bolton North.
They have tweeted: "A full closure is being implemented from J8 to J6 M61 due to a spillage across the carriageway."
North West Motorway Police have reported an accident there.
They tweeted: "Patrols are hoping to open all 3 lanes at the same time to get the traffic flowing better once safe to do so. This will be quicker for those stuck in queues than just using 1 lane."
