Wet weather did not deter thousands of people from flocking to Chorley town centre to officially start the countdown to Christmas.
Crowds packed into Market Street on Saturday for entertainment and the Christmas lights switch-on.
There were performances by X Factor singer Misha B, Frozen characters Anna and Elsa, and up-and-coming talents Chris Atkinson, Myth Of Unity, Tiger Heart and Dancer’s Wardrobe.
It culminated in the Christmas lights being turned on by actor Sean Ward, who played Callum Logan in Coronation Street, along with the leader of Chorley Council, Coun Alistair Bradley.
There were pyrotechnics and snow from the stage and a fireworks displays from the top of the town hall.
Coun Peter Wilson, deputy leader of the council, said: “The Christmas lights switch-on is one of our biggest events of the year and we’re delighted so many people braved the terrible weather to help us celebrate the start of the festive season in town.

“We crammed as much into the line-up as possible to make sure all the family had a fantastic evening out and from the feedback we’ve had people really enjoyed the show.
“As well as some fantastic acts, superb celebrities, the lights, pyrotechnics and the snow, we also had the town hall clock lit up in a way which had never been seen before.
“It was a fantastic evening and it is only the start of our festive fun with events and attractions taking place every weekend until Christmas and the return of Chorley’s giant ferris wheel from Friday, December 11 plus Chorley’s Santa Express.”
