Local band Doug Perkins and the Spectaculars have been given top billing on a line-up, including household names Dave Spikey, Steve Royle plus Ted Robins as the headline act at this year’s Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress’ Charity Gala in Chorley.

The four-piece rockabilly band from the town, will play a mixture of their own rockabilly songs, modern songs with a rockabilly twist and authentic 50s covers at the event hosted by Mayor of Chorley, Coun John Walker, at Chorley Town Hall on March 28. And lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist, Stu Blundell, 25, aka Doug Perkins, who now lives in Tarleton, Preston, couldn’t be more thrilled.

He said: “We can’t wait to perform on stage with such a group of talented people.

“Playing in Chorley, my home town, at the town hall, will be a great night.”

Stu, who works part time in Booth’s supermarket, has always been a fan of 50s music and regularly performs across Lancashire’s pubs and clubs circuit with the band.

He added: “We are going to rock this town!”

Named after the managing director of Specsavers and winners of Southport’s Band Royale in July 2013, the band are a firm favourite of Dave Spikey and are set to deliver a show-stopping performance on the night.

All proceeds from the evening will go to the Mayor’s Charity Appeal in aid of
Derian House Children’s Hospice and The Alzheimer’s Society.

Coun Walker said: “We’ve got a fantastic line-up of comedians and musicians and, with our host Dave Spikey, it’s guaranteed to be a great night out.

“It’s all for a good cause too.

“Tickets are sure to sell out quickly so I’d advise booking early to avoid missing out.”
