Surprise snowfall hits Lancashire
Heavy snow fell in parts of Lancashire this morning catching out commuters as they made their way into work following the Easter break.
The surprise Spring downfall hit parts of central and east Lancashire.
Chorley was one of the places worst hit, with reports of motorists struggling to get out of surrounding villages such as Brinscall and Withnell.
Folk in places such as Buckshaw Village and Whittle-le-Woods were also sending out Facebook messages saying it was snowing there, too.
Motorists crawled into work in some areas, including along the busy Blackburn Road, Great Knowley, towards Harpers Lane, where vehicles were bumper to bumper in the rush hour traffic.
Bus operator Stagecoach reported that its 125 Preston to Bolton service was experiencing delays due to bad weather and apologised to travellers for any inconvenience.
Lancashire Police tweeted: ‘Christmas has come late with snow in Chorley and Blackburn this morning, please check your route before heading out this morning.’
