'˜Suspicious package' found to be a '˜genuine delivery'

A package found at a business in Buckshaw Village is no longer being treated as suspicious, after being assessed by the bomb squad.

Police were called to Cellmark Forensics, on Ordnance Road, at 10.15am this morning to reports a “suspicious package” had been delivered.

A 100m cordon was put in place around the building, surrounding properties were evacuated and the road was closed.

Explosives Ordnance Disposal went to the building and the package was assessed.

A police spokesman said: “It has now been determined that the package was a genuine delivery and there is no threat to anyone at the premises or in the wider community.

“A precautionary 100m cordon around the building has been lifted and the situation is returning to normal.

“Our priority throughout this incident was the safety of the public and we would like to thank everyone for their support and co-operation.”
