Third times a charm for Preston health practice after new GP takes control
Avenham Surgery in Avenham Lane has been rated ‘good’ after an inspection by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) last month.
The inspection report, which was released on Tuesday, writes that the practice is ‘good’ in all five categories regarding safety, effectiveness, caring, responsiveness, and being well-led.

Hide AdIt follows two CQC inspections in December 2016 and September 2017 rating the practice as ‘inadequate’. The practice was placed in special measures – meaning that immediate improvement was needed.
New GP at the surgery, Dr Arif Dasu – who took over from retired practitioner Dr Khin Thanda – said: “We have merely focussed on providing simple, good quality General Practice and this is no less than what our patients and the local community deserves.’’
He added: “We will continue with the improvements we have made and aim to improve our services further for patients in the near and long term future.
“I would like to thank our dedicated staff, Patient Participation Group and patients for their support.’’
Inspectors also note one area of outstanding practice in the practice’s work online, appointing a ‘practice media champion’ to support and maintain the practice website and social media page.
