Police in Chorley have praised football supporters following the match against Chester at Victory Park despite three arrests being made.
Chorley played host to table toppers Chester in an Evostik Premier Division match last Wednesday night following the postponement of the original fixture due to weather.
A full police operation was in place for the game focussing around the safety of the supporters. The match was watched by over 2,000 spectators with the visitors winning 2-0.
Just three people were arrested and these were for public order offences.
Match Commander Inspector Steve Evans said, “It was well documented that there were issues at the corresponding fixture last season but I am delighted that the match passed off without incident and we have had excellent feedback from spectators and officials.
“I would like to thank the supporters who attended the fixture and although the result was not the one Chorley wanted, it was an interesting game and we wish both clubs the best of the luck for the remainder of the season.”
