Three suffer head injuries from car collision

Three people have suffered head injuries after a road collision in Charnock Richard.

Two females and a male driver were taken to hospital after the head-on collision at the junction of the A49 Preston Road and Church Lane just after 7.30pm on Wednesday night.

The 20-year-old man, who was in a Citroen Saxo, was treated by paramedics at the scene, and is understood to have also suffered back and chest injuries.

The women, aged in their 40s and 50s, were in a Mercedes and were trapped in the car when the Fire Service arrived.

Police described the injuries as being ‘non-life threatening.’

The road was closed in both directions of the A49 and Church Lane until 11.30pm.
