Police are appealing for witnesses following a fatal collision on the M65 earlier this morning, (November 1).
At around 7.30am, police received reports of a collision between a motorcycle and a white Vauxhall Insignia between junctions 2 and 1 of the westbound carriageway.
The 41-year-old motorcyclist, who was from the Burnley area received multiple injuries and was taken to Royal Preston Hospital but passed away a short time later.
The driver of the car was shaken but uninjured.
Sgt Lee Campbell from the Road Policing Unit said: “At this stage it is not entirely clear what has happened and so I would appeal to anyone who was in the area at the time of collision to come forward if they have any information that could help with our investigation.”
All three lanes of the westbound carriage way were closed between junctions 2 and 1 and at the roundabout at the end of the M65 where it joins with the M6 (junction 29) until 11.30am for accident investigation to take place.
The M6 Northbound carriageway was closed just before Junction 31 due to a tanker spillage.
All four lanes of the carriageway were closed and police, fire and highways agency were on the scene.
