Preston teenager killed in New Hall Lane crash has been named

The teenager has been named locally as Haroon Ahmed from the Fishwick area of the city.
Police say Haroon was a front seat passenger in a BMW 1 Series which hit the roundabout opposite the Hesketh Arms pub before overturning and crashing into the entrance to the cemetery.

Hide AdHis death in last night's crash has been confirmed by Preston Muslim Burial Society this morning.
Three others were rushed to Royal Preston Hospital for emergency treatment, where they remain this morning.
The driver, a 17-year-old Preston boy, remains in a critical condition having suffered serious neck and arm injuries.
The rear-seat passengers, aged 18 and 19 from Preston, also suffered serious injuries and are in a stable condition in hospital.

Hide AdNew Hall Lane was closed for around eight hours after the crash at the roundabout between New Hall Lane, Blackpool Road and Brockholes Brow shortly before 11pm.
The roads reopened at 7.30am after accident investigators completed their work at the scene.
Pictures of the scene show the extent of the damage to the cemetery gates, where stone pillars have been reduced to rubble from the impact.
Senior Investigating Officer Sgt Steve Hardman said: "Firstly my thoughts and sympathies are with the family of the man who died, at this incredibly distressing time.

Hide Ad“We are trying to ascertain exactly how this incident occurred and I am asking anyone who may have witnessed the collision, or the vehicle involved prior to it happening to make contact with the police.
"I am particularly interested in speaking to anyone has any dashcam footage or CCTV of the incident so please get in touch.
"I am aware that some photographs and videos of the aftermath of this incident have been posted on social media which is particularly distressing to the families of those involved. Please can I ask if you have uploaded any footage or shared anything on social media that it be deleted."
