Taxi hits tree after skidding on black ice in Chorley

A taxi has crashed into a tree after hitting black ice on a sharp bend in Chorley today (December 31).

The driver and his passenger escaped the wreck without injury after the car skidded into a patch of woods at the junction of Collingwood Street and Stansted Road at around 10am.

It is the second car to lose control on the same icy bend today, after another car skidded on black ice earlier this morning.

A yellow weather warning for snow and ice remains in place for Chorley and the wider Lancashire area this afternoon.
