Traffic stopped on M62 after cow makes its way onto motorway
The M62 has been shut westbound between junctions 19 (Middleton, Heywood) and 18 (Simister Island) whilst highways try to rescue the cow from the carriageway.
Highways shut the stretch of motorway after reports that the cow had wandered onto the motorway at around 7.45am, near Birch Services.

Hide AdUpdate - 8.08am - Traffic has now been released and all lanes re-opened after the cow has safely been returned to the adjacent field with help from the farmer.
But there is still slow traffic currently backed up just prior to junction 19 and this is expected to take a bit of time to clear.
