A brood of ducklings were rescued by traffic officers after becoming stranded on the M65.

Road traffic officers were called after motorists spotted a brood of ducklings stranded on the M65 eastbound on Friday evening (July 16).

Traffic was temporarily held between junctions 2 (Clayton Brook) and 3 (Brimmicroft) while officers safely rescued the chicks.

Nine ducklings were rescued in total.

“We will be keeping them safe until they are rehomed at a bird sanctuary tomorrow [July 16],” a spokesman for National Highways said.
