Woman cut free from wreckage after car and lorry collide

A woman had to be cut free from the wreckage of her car after it was involved in a collision with a lorry during the morning rush hour.

The casualty was trapped in the vehicle - a Mitsubishi Carisma - for some time before firefighters using hydraulic equipment managed to free her.

The collision happened on Belmont Road, Chorley at around 8.20am and paramedics treated the injured driver before she was taken to the Royal Preston Hospital by ambulance.

The driver’s injuries were not thought to be serious.
