Travellers were today involved in a stand-off with police after refusing to leave land inbetween Chorley and Leyland.
Up to 30 caravans pulled on to land next to the new Tesco store in Buckshaw Village on Thursday, July 14.
It is the second time in four weeks that travellers have moved on to the land.
Residents contacted the authorities on Thursday afternoon when the Irish families started to pull their caravans on to the unoccupied land.
The police, Chorley Council and representatives from the developers were on site and immediately issued vacation notices.
