UPDATE: Biker killed in A6 crash

A motorcyclist has been killed after being involved in a crash near Chorley.

The 23-year-old man, who has not yet been named by police, was travelling north along the A6, Preston Road, in Whittle-le-Woods at around 2.45pm yesterday afternoon.

As he began to make his way past Whittle-le-Woods CE Primary School on his red Honda motorcycle, a red BMW came out of Factory Lane opposite the school and collided with the bike.

The man, from the Preston area, was knocked from his bike and suffered “extensive injuries”. He died at the scene of the crash, police say.

The driver of the BMW, a 40-year-old woman, was treated for shock and whiplash.

The bike ended up sliding under a Nissan Qashqai.

Police are now appealing for witnesses and anyone with any information on the incident should contact police on 101 quoting log reference 0926 of July 10.
