Crews from Chorley fire station took specialist equipment to St Thomas’ Road, near Chorley police station, after the B&M bargains HGV became stuck between a wall, bollards and railings.

Crew manager Ian Turnbull said the driver had gone the wrong way due to a ‘Sat Nav failure’ near the junction of Crown Street and Market Street.

He said: “The lorry became wedged with the back of his trailer against a wall - and the front was against some small railings.

“He was stuck between them both and would have never have been able to get out there without us cutting him out.”

The service has to cut through railings, bollards and street furniture, whilst being careful not to cut through BT wires.

The road was temporarily closed off this afternoon whilst the recovery took place.

People travellnig through Chorley wrote on social media that the closure caused ‘traffic chaos’ in the area.

A police spokesman said nobody was injured during the incident.
