Owners of older Land Rover Discovery cars are being urged to secure their vehicles after several thefts.

Police believe the cars are being targeted because they sometimes have fewer security measures and can be easier to steal.

An N-registered Land Rover Discovery worth £10,000 was taken from the driveway of a house on Swansea Lane, Clayton-le-Woods, between 1am and 3am on Thursday, March 6.

And an M-registered Land Rover Discovery, worth £5,000, was unhooked from a trailer and stolen from Darlington Street, Coppull, the following night.

Sergeant Andy Bramhall, from Chorley neighbourhood policing team, said: “We would appeal to any owners of older-style Land Rovers to make them as secure as they can do, with a steering lock for example.”

Anyone with information about the stolen cars is asked to call police on 101.
