Wayne Eccles has been announced as the regional winner for the North West in NHBC’s 32nd annual Pride in the Job Awards in the Large Builder category, for site managing the construction of the Willow Fields development in Wesham.

Wayne, 39, from Leyland, who works for Miller Homes North West, was one of four site managers to be recognised as the region’s winners at a prestigious dinner event held at the Hilton Deansgate in Manchester.

The NHBC Pride in the Job Awards are the most sought-after accolades in the industry dedicated to housebuilding site management in the UK.

They reward site managers for the unique contribution they make to the house building process, delivering high quality homes and directing projects from start to finish.

Wayne won his regional award for overseeing the build of Willow Fields, a 201 unit development of detached, semi-detached, and apartment homes priced up to £355,000.

Neil Jefferson, customer and business development director for NHBC, the UK’s leading new-home warranty provider, said: “Wayne has delivered new homes of outstanding quality on this site and should be rightly proud of his achievement.

“This award marks him out as a top site manager for house building in the UK and I wish him the best of luck in the national final.”

Along with the champions from eight other UK regions, Wayne now progresses to Pride in the Job’s Supreme Gala event, being held in London in January, where five UK Supreme Winners will be announced.

Wayne said: “I find it hard to put in to words. This award is a highlight in any site manager’s career and hopefully I’ll have more to come.

“I enjoy improving the quality on site from day to day, and take great pleasure in seeing the look on customers’ faces when I walk them around their new home for the first time.”

Dad-of-two Wayne has worked in housebuilding for 20 years following a career in the armed forces, starting on an apprenticeship in kerbing, flagging and block paving.

He has worked for the last 10 years for Miller Homes as a site manager.

Chris Endsor, chief executive of Miller Homes, said: “Wayne is a very worthy winner of this award and should be very proud of his achievements.

“As a company, we consistently aim to deliver the best possible standards for our customers and recognition for our site managers at the Pride in the Job Awards demonstrates our commitment to achieving that goal.”
