Chief Meteorologist Steve Ramsdale, said: “The UK will see a few days of notably warm weather to end March, with a maximum of 24°C on Wednesday in the south and east of England. There will also be plenty of sunshine across England and Wales however parts of Scotland will see some persistent rain over the next couple of days.

“Conditions will start to change through the day on Thursday as cooler air moves in from the north east, highs will fall to the mid-teens before falling further by Friday, especially along the east coast. With pressure building from the north however, conditions are expected to remain dry for the majority.

"Through Sunday an even colder pool of air will start to push in across the UK from the north west, bringing a notable change to temperatures compared to the start of the week. This also brings a move towards more unsettled conditions with stronger winds and the chance of some wintry showers.”

Here is the full weather forecast for the region:

Tuesday, March 30:

A largely dry start with sunny spells in the south. Cloud clearing in the north through the morning with plenty of sunny spells by afternoon. Feeling warm with light winds. Maximum temperature 20 °C.

Sunny spells on Wednesday with increasing cloud and patchy rain later. Colder and dry with variable amounts of cloud on Thursday and Friday, with the risk of an overnight frost.

Easter weekend:

Widely fine conditions are expected across the British Isles on Friday and Saturday with plenty of dry weather and sunny spells for most. Temperatures will be around or a little below average for the early part of April, with some chilly nights. It will likely turn colder and more unsettled from the north by the start of the following week. All areas of the UK are likely to see spells of rain and stronger winds. Some wintry showers are possible too though any snow is most likely over hills in the north of the country. After a colder spell, temperatures will probably start to return back closer to average towards the end of this period.
