Good food and great wine are important to Rachel Moore and Lloyd Grundy, so it was only fitting that they should tie the knot at a French vineyard.
Combined with the fact that four days in France cost the same as one day in England - and the fact that France tends to be slightly sunnier too - the couple said it was a no brainer.
Rachel, who works for McCain Foods, and Lloyd, a high school science teacher, met at the Preston Ju-Jitsu Club.
Five years later, the adventurous pair quit their jobs and went travelling around South America, New Zealand, Australia and South East Asia for two years.
“Bearing in mind we hadn’t lived together or spent 24/7 with one another until this point, it really was a make or break situation,” Rachael explains. “It went better than we could have ever imagined though, and we realised how much we were like two peas in a pod.
“Lloyd was actually going to propose whilst in Australia but decided against it with the long trip across Asia to come!”
After seven years together, Lloyd took Rachel to the Michelin star restaurant, the Waterside Inn in Bray.
He says: “The staff, wine and food was fantastic so everything was going to plan.
“After dinner we went out on to the veranda to look at the swans, and I got down on one knee.
“Rachel totally ruined the moment by asking a barrage of questions like ‘how long have you been planning this?’ and ‘who else knows?’.
“A year later our beautiful bundle of exuberance, Isabelle, was born.”
And after nine years together, Lloyd and Rachel, who live in Whittle-le-Woods, got married at the Chateau de la Ligne in Bordeaux, surrounded by family and friends, followed by a honeymoon in Santorini, Greece.
