Winds cause power cut

Hundreds of homes were without power after high winds brought down overhead cables in the Chorley area on Friday afternoon.

More than 360 homes in Charnock Richard were initially affected and a spokesman for Electricity North West said the vast majority had power restored automatically within minutes.

A further 198 were reconnected within two hours and engineers were working to restore the service to the remainder shortly after,
