Members of Withnell Fold Millennium Green, a charitable trust run by volunteers and financed by donations, gathered to give an autumn clean-up to the village’s green spaces.
Local expert Paul Brooking demonstrated how to prune the trees in the Millennium Green orchard and residents cleared paths, blowing leaves away and trimmed hedges.
The Memorial Garden was also spruced up in preparation for Remembrance Sunday.
Resident Peter Mallon said: “The fine weather encouraged a great turnout, with around 34 adults, plus several children. Everyone had a wonderful time. We achieved an amazing amount in the space of one day. It’s a tribute to our community spirit that so many people gave up their time. We are very grateful to Chorley Council, who supplied a skip for all the waste. We filled it.”
