Woman in brutal town attack

A WOMAN is in hospital after a ‘brutal and sustained’ attack in the town.

Police are appealing for witnesses after the 34-year-old woman, who has not been named, was attacked between the Pall Mall area and the Liptrott estate.

It happened between 9am and 4pm on Tuesday.

The woman sustained serious internal injuries and remains in hospital in a serious but stable condition.

Insp Jo Keay, from Chorley police, said: “This was a sustained and brutal attack which occurred during daylight hours and as a result could possibly have been witnessed by passing pedestrians or motorists.

“Detectives are currently trying to piece together the full circumstances of the assault and would appeal for anyone with information or who witnessed the attack on Tuesday to come forward.

“Their information could assist with this enquiry.”
