A woman was stabbed through the hand with a nine-inch kitchen knife at a party in Chorley.

The 42-year-old was at a home, on Northgate Drive, on Thursday when it is believed a fight broke out.

The woman, who is not from Chorley, also suffered from what is described as minor stab wounds to the arm and shoulder.

Police are now asking for help in finding the weapon used in the alleged attack.

Sgt Kev Mountain of Chorley police said: “We believe the knife may have been discarded in the area. If someone either finds it, or has any information on where it could be, they should speak to police.”

- A 29-year-old Chorley woman has been charged with wounding with intent and appeared at Preston Magistrates’ Court on Saturday.
