A woman suffered a head injury when she was hit by a car in Chorley town centre.

Police and paramedics were called to the junction of High Street and Cleveland Street, outside Chorley Post Office, at 2.10pm today.

The woman, who was around 50 years old, suffered a head injury in the collision with a Vauxhall Corsa.

High Street was closed by police while she was tended to by paramedics.

The woman was taken by ambulance to Chorley And South Ribble Hospital for treatment to the head injury, which was not thought to be life-threatening.
