Eighteen Juniors represented the club and took on 11 other North West clubs at the (TENW) Championships at the Palatine Leisure Centre and Cycle Track in Blackpool.

Each of the eight Chorley teams completed three consecutive triathlons totalling nine legs of swim, bike and run. The youngest age group was Tristar One for nine and 10 year olds. Eve Downham and Lara Goudge both new to triathlon had a fantastic first race finishing sixth.

Then came the Tristar Twos, Daniel Lilley with Joe Mitchell and Dennis Kay with Joe Bowles finishing first and fourth gaining valuable points for the title.

The T2 girls were represented by Isabelle Farron, Alice Goudge and Lauren Waddington who finished ninth. Thomas Roberts and Joseph Chadwick made up the T3 boys’ team and despite a crash on the bike leg they finished fourth

Chorley had two teams in the girls’ T3 age group. Georgina Ainscough with Kate Waddington finished fifth, followed closely by Charlotte Lavin, Jessica Mitchell and Megan Whalley who finished sixth, gaining valuable points towards the championships.

Lydia Wilcock and Leah Williams gave an impressive performance in the youth category finishing first in their relay. Chorley won the boys’ division by one point ahead of Arragons Cumbrian Triathlon Club.

The girls earned a very respectable fifth place finish and Chorley took third in the Overall Club Championship

Lead juniors spokeswoman Jane Bowles said: “What a fantastic achievement for a club relatively new to junior triathlon. Well done to all involved”.
