Join us! That’s the message from Euxton Girls as they are on the search to find the latest young footballing talent.

The club was launched in 2002 by Dennis Winn because his grand-daughter Nicola Barker couldn’t find a football team to play for.

It has now grown to seven teams across six age groups with more than 100 playing members.

The club is planning to launch a new U10s team next season and continue with the U11s age group and has launched an appeal for new players.

The first of two open days took place on Sunday (February 23) and a second one is due to take place on March 23.

Winn, who is now the chairman, said: “It was a great turnout from across all the teams, which reflects the strength of Euxton Girls.

“We currently have seven teams aged between Under-11s and Under-16s .

“But because the girls move up in age groups we need new players to join us.

“As well as launching an Under-10s team we need new players for the Under-11s.

The Under 10s would be made up of year 4 and 5 at primary school while the U11s consist of year 5 and 6.

“I passionately believe that it can give the girls themselves a huge boost.”

The club will be holding a primary schools football tournament on Friday, May 9 between 4.30pm – 7pm at Greenside.

It is open to primary schools from the Chorley and Leyland areas and is free to enter.

The tournament will be split between a year 3 and 4 section and a year 5 and 6 competition.
