Cup and league joy for Eccleston

Croston were bowled out for 93 with Jake Parsons (20) top scoring.

Whilst Freckleton only lost three wickets as they reached the total in 30.3 overs.

In Division One Eccleston beat Fulwood and Broughton by three wickets.

Bowler Iain Bradley took four wickets for 17 runs as Fulwood and Broughton were bowled out for 141.

Eccleston had a shaky start to their reply as they lost three quick wickets with openers Josh Pope out for a duck, Tom Potter for two and number four Matthew Ashcroft also out for a duck.

Thomas Wilkinson (15) and Jamie Maitland (12) steadied the ship before Sam Bromley’s unbeaten 71 pushed them over the line.

Rufford beat Kirkham and Wesham by nine wickets, Hoghton lost by five wickets to Vernon Carus 2nd XI., White Coppice lost by seven wickets to Garstang 2nds and Longridge 2nds beat Withnell Fold by 49 runs.

On Sunday a number of teams were in Meyler Cup action. Eccleston progressed to the second round with a 10 wicket win.

Hoghton lost to Fulwood and Broughton by nine wickets.

Hoghton were bowled out for 67 with F&B only losing one wicket in an 8.2 over chase. Withnell Fold conceded their game at Thornton Cleveleys.

Croston beat Whittingham and Goosnargh by 85 runs.

Croston’s Stephen Langton scored 63 as they posted 165-8 batting first.

Jonathan Driver starred with the ball as he picked up six wickets for 28 as they bowled W&G out for 80.

In the Loxham Cup Charnock Richard lost to Vernon Carus 2nds and Mawdesley beat Penwortham 2nds.
