A dull opening 20 minutes was broken open when Mike Calveley charged 50 yards unchallenged and slipped the ball off for Billy Whitehouse to find the head of Jon Ustabaşı for the winger’s first of the campaign.

Ustabaşı soon turned provider when his cute backheel allowed Connor Hall to rifle home his third in as many games from 18 yards.

Such was the Magpies’ dominance they could even afford to miss an early second half penalty; Hall winning the spot kick before seeing his effort from 12 yards saved by Sam Long.

This didn’t deter the visitors, who weathered a slight Boston storm before once more striking twice in quick succession.

On 71 minutes Adam Blakeman and Ollie Shenton were given the freedom of Lincolnshire to tee up a second back post Ustabaşı header.

The fourth, three minutes later, could have almost been walked in by scorer Billy Whitehouse, such was the home side’s capitulation.

Unsurprisingly, a Jordon Crawford consolation with 10 to play didn’t quell the anger among the home contingent, who made their feelings very clear at the final whistle.

For the Magpies, however, it was a result to savour.
